Xserve includes an optimized Apache web server for hosting secure, high-performance websites right out of the box. A powerful front-end caching system speeds up the Apache Server’s delivery of static content, such as HTML pages and images. This in turn allows Xserve to provide more than 5,000 hits per second in WebBench 4.1. That’s enough to saturate three T3 lines, or an OC3 line, at more than 130 megabits per second. Depending on how you configure the server, each website can have a different domain name (using virtual domains) and even a different IP address.
Integrated support for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) enables secure high-grade 128-bit encryption and authentication of transactions (public key infrastructure (PKI) using X.509 digital certificates), providing the ironclad security you need for e-commerce websites.
